The band's name was inspired by Marlon Brando's motorcycle gang in the 1953 film The Wild One. The band's logo, a skull with wings, has become synonymous with their music and is often seen on their album covers and merchandise.

Devil's Tattoo is the seventh studio album by BRMC. It was released in 2010 and is widely considered one of their best albums. The album was recorded in Philadelphia and produced by Michael Been, Robert Levon Been's father, who had also produced BRMC's previous albums. Michael Been passed away in 2010 shortly after the release of Devil's Tattoo, making it his last production credit.
